We stayed at one of your cottages in December 2012 and thought the experience was wonderul! It was everything your website claimed and more. We plan on returning in 2013. Thanks for a wonderful get-away!
-- Jim & Judy, January 2013
All of the staff were friendly and helpful - made us feel at home. We will recommend the Pelican to friends and family. Thanks to Richard, Ozzy, and the ladies!
-- Joe & Colleen, January 2013
I just returned from a 4-night blissful stay at The Pelican: The grounds, the views, and the amenities were all fantastic! The luxury and convenience of leaving jet skis in the water the whole time! The rooms were quaint and comfortable. The service was attentive and friendly. Great eats within walking distance! I'm only 3 hours drive away, so The Pelican is my new favorite Keys destination. In fact, I will be calling soon to plan my next trip.
-- Rick, July 2011
Just wanted to say my family and I had an amazing stay at your resort. We enjoyed fishing from the pier and kayaking to the island. We can't wait to come back. Thank you for everything.
-- Ruben, January 2012
Just got back from a three day stay at The Pelican. I can't say enough good things about this place. The grounds are clean, tranquil and very well maintained. The boat docks are ideal for reaching your water destinations all over the northern keys. The bay out back is large and deep enough to use your boat for tubing. I absolutely am in love with this resort!! I will keep it short but would not be happy unless I said something about the staff. First class! Friendly, extremely helpful just wonderful people. Thank you Richard for coming out to the water and playing your guitar and singing for us, what a nice touch! I will be back soon and often.
-- Chris, January 2012
Thanks all for a great time this weekend. The property was beautiful and the staff great. Thanks especially to Richard for all his attention and flexibility.
-- John, January 2012
Very nice stay. First time & expect to come back soon. The service was great. Staff very friendly.
-- Vivian, July 2011
Cute little place with friendly management. Stayed for one night in a cheap Gecko Room and were absolutely satisfied with the motel. The entrance and the bar are very nicely done and the management were extremely helpful. Continue down the road about 10 minutes south and there are two great restaurants serving fresh fish (Mac's..., Snappers)
-- Tikiatua, June 2011
All in all, everyone loved the placed at reasonable cost, and I'm sure
will tell friends, family and will themselves return for a vacation etc;
-- Steve, February 2011
My friend and I stayed at the Hungary Pelican for one night in February. We were in the Dolphin suite. The hotel staff were very kind and helpful; the funky hotel was awesome along with the indescribable sunset. Am hopeful to visit again sometime soon!
-- Nancy Fox James, February 2011
What a find! March 10 we stayed 3 days. Cottages are perfect, staff are extremely helpful and friendly, great swimming and snorkel practice off the docks, great sunsets, close to reef /snorkel/scuba/ glass bottom boat tours, close to restaurants & shops. Without hesitation I recommend this casual resort. Thanks
-- Sandy Brown, March 2010
Stayed at the Pelican in October,2009. These cottages are the PERFECT little hideaway at the start of the keys. Highly recommend to anyone, just visit and RELAX. We are returning now every OCT.
-- Harvey Hahn, February 2010
We are currently in the Pelican Resort and I can only say....its just great. We initially just wanted to stay 2 nights but then decided to stay for 2 more nights, because its just so great here. We choose the Waterfront Cottage "Beach daze" for 185§, which is not a very cheap price but definetely woth each penny.
-- GermanHoneymooners, December 2009
If you're looking for glitz and glamour, the Hungry Pelican is not for you. If you are looking for the island feel...this is the place. The staff is very friendly and helpful. From AIA MM100 you can look down the driveway and see the bayside ocean. Cottages are your typical 50's style.
-- October 2009
I loves the hungry pelican hotel. Great sunset view. Room are nice and clean. Good price and the front desk guy was really nice. Help me with restaurant around the area, bars, daily dive/ snorkel trips and with the internet.
-- Mark1955, October 2009
The price is right, for less than $100/night with a Million Dollar view and spectacular dock to view sunsets, snorkle around the bay or just hang out on the water -- the Pelican is my favorite place to stay in Key Largo. The huge tiki and outdoor grills more than make-up for the tiny rooms.
-- Ceebean, October 2009
Me and my friend stayed in the Heliconia room, which is the smallest room available. Even though it was really small (the room is mainly just the bed :)), it was also very clean with much appreciated A/C unit. The room also has a little fridge and microwave in a corner + TV.
-- Loma23320, June 2009
Thank you for your hospitality during our visit a week ago. Your restaurant recommendations were right on the money and greatly appreciated. Hope to see you again next year.
-- Donna Salter, July 2008
We had a wonderful time-- we loved the Pelican--it was perfect for us. Thank you! The Pelican was close to all the activities we selected- dolphin swim,
snorkeling on the reef, bird rehab center, glass bottom boat tour,
kayaking and great restaurants. We loved getting up in the
morning-opening the door to sand and water! We all hated to leave!
-- Grace S. Jacobs, December 2007
Everything was great — no complaints — both places were beautiful, especially the Roseate — I will be back
-- John Rovito, July 2007
My third year @ HP and the best stay yet.
--Richard Barstow, July 2007
We were there for only a day, making our way to Key West on our motorcycle. We enjoyed it very much & would recommend it.
--Nina Barker, July 2007
My wife and I loved the "Old Florida" charm of The Pelican. Please do not change that in your renovation.
--Bertha & Brian Buckley, May 2007
We stay here 3 - 4 times a year — great value.
-- Cyndi Crockett, July 2007
We recommend your resort to others who come to visit us while in the keys (we leave a motorhome at Key Largo Campground). You're doing things right! Thank you for making the keys experience possible & affordable, yet quality.
-- Penny MacKenzie, July 2007
I have been spending the last 7 years at your place, with my family. We simply LOVE it. This year I will be getting married! We are planning to come down a visit with the Brand New addition to our Family!! Look forward to spending some time with you soon!!!
I spent time in the HP and it will be the only place in the keys that I will return to. Here you find the "paradise-feeling" you need if you want a real vacation. It was the first time I "met" and swam with a manatee and her baby - something I will never forget - it touched my soul. Saying "Thank you" seems to little to say...
The Heliconia Suite is great place to stay in the KEYS! The small bungalow is perfect for sleeping and enjoying the beautiful sunsets! This is a perfect place for adults that are in Florida on a trip. The place is perfect for 2 adults! friendly owners too ~ I loved it! Make sure to eat at Whale Harbor Inn for the Crab Claws!
-- Jill Conkright
WOW!!! I never thought that HP would take my breath away, but it did. What a wonderful place. The people are great the staff were very helpful and friendly. What a relaxing vacation. I definitely will make this a family tradition to keep coming back to Hungry Pelican. Thank you for making our vacation the best one see you in the summer and next year :0)
we have been going to your resort for many years now, for you folks out there who have never been to the Florida Keys.. believe me IT IS as beautiful as the pictures show and than some ... once you've been here, you'll want to come back very soon!!
--David and Andree Duchesne
Spent Valentine's Day at Hungry Pelican and fell in LOVE with it!! The room was nice and the grounds are GORGEOUS!! Very relaxing. We had a blast. We plan to come down from Broward Co. once a month from now on! See you soon and THANK YOU!
--Mary and David Torres
I just wanted to tell you that my husband and I stayed there about a year ago, and we had such a wonderful time that we are going to be moving there as soon as possible! Thank you for showing us such a good time. Hope to see you soon!! Take care....
We love the Hungry Pelican. It is truly the best place to stay when you visit The Key Largo area. Great hosts and a very peaceful setting. All of the guests are so relaxed and happy and it is very nice to take your family. You must stay here if you are planning to visit. You WILL love it!
...loved the night experience of what I consider OLD FLORIDA. No high prices of other places in the Keys... and certainly not the crowds of Key West. I am planning on coming back this April to spend more than a night. Can't wait in fact. Can almost hear the breezes in the palm trees now.
Staying at the HUNGRY PELICAN was one of the best parts of my trip to the keys. This place has PERSONALITY! It is funky, tropical, and romantic with a capital R! What a wonderful place it would be for a honeymoon.
We have stayed with you 4 or 5 times now and we really like your place. We brought our married kids and there spouses on vacation to Florida and out of all the places we stayed they loved your the best. It's a beautiful and relaxing place.
WOW! Our first experience of the Keys and what a wonderful one! It made our boys (and mine too if I'm honest) holiday, to meet a beautiful manatee and her baby just off the pier! Staff so friendly and helpful, yes, the rooms are small, but with the beach just a few paces away, who wants to spend time in a hotel room?! Thank you Hungry Pelican, we definitely want to come back and spend more time in the beautiful Keys!
love the style, can't wait to see you in june.
I had the pleasure of staying at the Hungry Pelican a couple of years ago. It was really wonderful...extremely clean, peaceful and safe. Thank you!
I will be back if I return to Key Largo! The Pelican is a friendly and relaxing place to stay. I missed the Bayside beach and Bob the parrot as soon as I pulled out.
I stayed at the Hungry Pelican with my family for 5 nights in January. It was a great place to stay very relaxing. The employees make you feel very welcome, and at home. I would recommend The Hungry Pelican to everyone. It was a wonderful time, and I would go back again when ever I could. Thank You everyone at The Hungry Pelican, keep up the wonderful environment!!!!!
I have been coming to the Pelican for over 10 years & finally convinced John & Ernie to come with me... now they are hooked! We'll be back with our bikes, kayaks, kites, cameras, guitars & sun screen. Save a spot under the tiki hut for us.
We came to Key Largo to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We "stumbled upon" the Hungry Pelican. What a treat!!! Relaxing, peaceful and romantic atmosphere. We had a great time and look forward to bringing some of the family down with us next time to enjoy!! Thanks!
--Pat and Don Rowe
My 2 friends and I will be at the Pelican in Oct. I keep looking at your photos and I'm so excited I can hardly sleep.
We loved our stay at the Hungry Pelican. We stayed for two nights during the Thanksgiving holiday. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, the setting was beautiful, the rates were unbeatable! We will definitely stay again on our next trip!
--Mathila & Harrison
I have been there last summer with my family, and we surely will be back (but it's a long way from Berlin/Germany), because we enjoyed the Hungry Pelican VERY MUCH !!!
Hi - I'm very happy to let you know that we're returning again this year to stay at Hungry Pelican. I was there two years ago with three other fellow divers and my family. I will highly recommend you place again and again to anyone.
We have stayed at the Hungry Pelican several times and enjoyed each visit. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind coming from Palm Beach County. We have recommended to several of our friends.
I love the Hungry Pelican. It is always fun to bring friends who have never had the Pelican experience. See ya' in May!
-- Dana McGilton
I have been bringing my family and friends to the Hungry Pelican for 5 years now, and we love it each time we come. Its wonderful to sit and watch the sunset with a cocktail and friends. It is very relaxing and very quiet. That is just what I need to start my summer.
Last year, my fiance and I spent a week at the Hungry Pelican and loved every second of it. This year, we return again, but now she's my wife. We look forward to seeing mamma and baby manatee, fly fishing for barracuda and bonefish, snorkeling at Pelican Key, and kayaking around the bay in the evening. See you in a few weeks!!
We discovered Hungry Pelican late at night under a storm, next morning we woke up in paradise! We spent just a night there and we loved it - we saw a mother manatee and her baby, we could touch them — unfortunately we couldn't stay longer... now we can't wait to be back there! hope our dream will soon come true!
I brought the little woman down last year, and I gotta' tell you. There's something in the water down there that we just can't wait to come back and get another big dose of. She hasn't been the same ever since. I LOVE The Hungry Pelican!!
Two summers ago, a friend of mine and I journeyed south from Wyoming to see the Keys, do some snorkeling, and just kick back and relax. We were thrilled to find the Hungry Pelican, and loved the room, the sunsets, and the heron that hung out by the boat dock. Now my beautiful fiancé and I are planning to come back to your beautiful motel and spend a week or so enjoying the area, bird-watching, snorkeling, and watching the ocean. We'll see you in a couple of weeks!! --Josef Franz
I am so excited about my trip next week to the keys. I stayed in key west last year for 1 week, but never left key west. This time, we rented a car, and are planning on spending 3 nights outside of key west, and one day especially one day at THE HUNGRY PELICAN MOTEL!!!!!!!!! C-Ya Soon!
We stayed at the Hungry Pelican in June 2001, and can't wait to stay there again this summer. There's nothing like sitting on the dock, feeding the pelicans and watching the sunset. What a great place to relax and recuperate after doing the "Duval Crawl!"
